7 hours!

The word anguish has a definition of: excruciating or acute distress, suffering, or pain.  This was the word used by a neighbor who described how the mother felt when police knocked on her door to inform her that her toddler had passed away as the toddler was left in a vehicle for seven hours.  This was recorded as the twenty-fifth Pediatric Vehicular Heatstroke case (PVH) of 2022 in the United States.

The neighbor, Ms. Treana Huntley later went on to say that the father of the deceased toddler was screaming uncontrollably, while the mother starting wailing, and moments later, collapsed in the front yard.  The mother had to be taken to the hospital by an ambulance.

According to officials, the toddler was found inside a vehicle by a neighbor at 2:20pm and conducted CPR trying to resuscitate the toddler, unfortunately, it was too late.  Reports indicated that both parents were not aware that their toddler was in the vehicle, and later confirmed that the toddler was accidentally left in the backseat of the vehicle.  No charges were filed against the parents.

From the editor’s point of view, living a life full of regret can be devasting for the parents.  As we have covered previously, guilt is something that can destroy relationships, marriages, and can affect someone psychologically for a long period of time.  It is devastating to read about these unfortunate incidents, but to imagine how the parents feel after learning that it was their fault for the death of their own toddler, words cannot even come close to describe it.

Even though no charges were filed against the parents for this accidental death, they would have to live with this for the rest of their lives.  How would they feel when they stare at the wall of pictures they must have of their beautiful toddler?  How do they reset their lives now that there is an empty void that will accompany them for the rest of their lives?
