Are you forgetful?

For the past few posts, we have identified main reasons why we may forget.  The following lists some of the quick remedies that could help in preventing us from being forgetful.  The below list can be very useful and cost saving (here are some of the tips that is free of charge and easy to do).  It may also help to reduce forgetting important events in your life.

  • Exercise:  Some of us may know that exercise is beneficial to our well-being, but some light exercises such as walking or light jogging can certainly can improve memory functions.
  • Sleep:  Adequate sleep is essential for both physical and mental health.  While sleep needs can vary, the typical recommendation for adults is seven to nine hours per night.
  • Set time aside to get organized:  Set aside a specific period of time to prioritize your daily tasks and list them chronologically in order of importance.  Try to follow through and complete each to do list.
  • Healthy diet:  Everything in moderation, but you should consider eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains as they are really good for you. What you drink counts, too. Too much alcohol can lead to confusion and memory loss. So can drug use.
  • Medical advice:  Get checked by having regular physical exams, and if conditions become worse, seek immediate help from a doctor.
  • Mentally active:  Mentally stimulating games to challenge the brain is very important such as puzzles and board games.
  • Socialize regularly:  Regularly gather with friend, family, and loved ones can help reduce stress and depression which can be causes for memory loss.
  • Meditation:  It may help to increase memory according to research, so set aside a certain time to do so, such as before going to bed.
