First case of Pediatric Vehicular Heatstroke for 2023

The first case of Pediatric Vehicular heatstroke (PVH) for the year 2023 took place in Atmore Alabama on February 27th.  The father, identified as Mr. Shaun Rounsavall, tried to pick up his toddler in the late afternoon from the daycare center, but was told the toddler was never dropped off that day!

Mr. Rounsavall then rushed to the back of his seat and found out that his little boy was there the whole time.  He immediately rushed the two-year-old toddler to the hospital but all to no avail.  According to the Atmore Police Department, Mr. Rounsavall faced a charge of reckless murder, which in Alabama is defined as causing the death of another person by acting with “extreme indifference to human life” and recklessly engaging in conduct “which creates a grave risk of death to a person.” Additional information is provided in the link at the end of this posting.

We, as human beings, cannot remember everything we have seen or heard at the end of the day.  According to the University of California in San Diego, an average American consumes about 34 gigabytes of information in one day, or to put this in perspective, the equivalent to 95,356 words.

It is heart-wrenching to hear about such tragic incidents, especially when they are entirely preventable. As we have covered before, it is essential to have the right technology to help you make the right decisions when it comes to child vehicular safety. That’s where The Rocket Innovation’s Baby Car Safe kit comes in.

Our revolutionary kit comes with a smart pad that detect the presence of a child in the seat, and if the driver or caretaker forgets to remove the child from the backseat, the system sends notifications to remind them. If there is no response, the kit sends an alert to emergency services, who can then take appropriate action to rescue the child from the vehicle.  We know that parents will do anything to keep our children safe and our kit provides an extra layer of security that can help prevent the worst-case scenario. We urge all parents to take child vehicular safety seriously and take advantage of the technology available to them. Let’s work together to prevent such tragic incidents from ever occurring again.

The worst feeling in the world, such as this case, was not to have convicted of a reckless murder charge on your file.  It was the fact that knowing what your little son went through each second in the vehicle for hours, and knowing that you could have prevented it from happening.
