Types of strollers

There are many types of strollers available for all occasions today so which one is appropriate for me?  The list below highlights the various types of strollers on the market today.

The travel system:  This is one of the most versatile combinations out there today!  It comprises of an infant car seat and a stroller which can be compatible with each other.  This means that you can snap your infant car seat from your car into the stroller itself and you will be on your way.  Some brands even let you decide which combination is right for you so you can make your stroller installation as painless as possible.  When your infant grows out of the infant car seat, you can then switch your stroller carriage onto the stroller and not have to buy a new one again!  See picture #1 below.

Full size stroller:  This type of stroller comes with the bells and whistles!  It is studier with full size wheels, solidly built, and comes with all the accessories you can imagine.  It is also built with some sort of shock absorbers, so it can keep your baby comfortable when the stroller is in action.  Some of these strollers can even accommodate growing families by adding another seat, or baby seat, or infant seat so the combinations are endless.  In addition, some can add a glider board at the end of the stroller so it can actually carry three of your little ones at the same time!  See picture #2 below.

The jogger stroller:  This is one of the stroller types that is suitable for the great outdoors.  They usually provide all terrain wheels which are air-filled so you can boldly go where no other stroller has gone before!  In addition, some even can accommodate two infants so the family can enjoy the great outdoors together.  See picture #3 below.

Lightweight umbrella stroller:  This kind of stroller is what it sounds like: portable, efficient, and great for families on the go.  It is very compact, budget friendly, and some even has its own travel bag so you can take it with you easily.  See picture # 4 below.

The double stroller: These are somewhat similar to the full-sized stroller but offer two tandem (side by side) or one in front of the other car seat so your growing family can go out together in style!  See picture #5 below.

Car seat carrier: Frame only stroller so you can buy a universal adapter to house a car seat or infant seat of your choice.  Some are universal so be sure that the universal adapter can fit the stroller frame!  It provides flexibility to house different brands of car seat or infant seat.  See picture #6 below.

Some safety precautions to be aware of when parents choose their appropriate strollers:

  • Does the stroller’s seat harness provide three-point or five-point harness?
  • Can reflective strips be installed onto the wheels of the stroller?
  • Does the stroller come with a tether strap?
  • Can the seat of the stroller face forward and backward as well?
  • Does the stroller fold easily with one hand?
  • Can the brakes of the stroller be easily activated?
  • Does the stroller offer an accessory bag that is attached to the side instead of the back handle so it does not tip over easily due to the weight of the bag?
  • Does this type of stroller offer shock absorbers to provide comfort for the infant?

We always have to be aware of the safety precautions when it comes to buying a stroller.  After all, it is our beloved little ones we are carry around with us, and their safety and comfort come first over anything else!
